Would you like to reclaim your attention and reconnect with a sense of awe?

We can be so enmeshed in the every dayness of our lives, that we lose track of those ordinary things that bring us joy and meaning.

We are so distracted, that when the extraordinary appears, we might totally miss it.

When this happens, we miss out on the simple, ordinary awe of being alive. Awe is an essential ingredient to our happiness and well-being.

The Year of the Ordinary Extraordinary was created to help you reconnect to the magic of the ordinary, the extraordinary and everything in-between, day after day, week after week, year after year.

A "real" time event for connecting with others and creating time that matters.

  • It is a virtual workshop.
  • It is a live, synchronous, interactive event. It is not recorded.
  • These interactive activities will include guided visualizations, writing prompts, and small group and large group discussions.
That sounds good to me!

🪄 Attention + Intention + Imagination = Possibility 🪄

We draw on applied improvisation, storytelling, mindfulness practices, and other creative interventions to create an immersive and transformational experience.

In this interactive and experiential workshop (aka the YOREX) you will discover what happens when you attend to your attention, align it with intention, and then imagine a future based on that union.

When you "attend" to your attention, it helps you connect to the magic of the ordinary, the extraordinary, and everything in-between. We will do this by:

✨ Defining your "ordinary" and "extraordinary" and why it matters

✨ Crafting your Daily Declaration (aka a manifesto)

✨ Discovering your own Daily Day Mix.  The secret sauce that helps turn your plans from a goop-glob of wanting into something that actually is.

✨ Creating Implementation Intentions to help you align your attention and intention

✨ Establishing an End-of-Day Ritual

✨ Cultivating a meaningful self-care practice.

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR!

Hi, I'm Jeanne

COACH. FACILITATOR. FORMER ARCHAEOLOGIST. TIME RE-IMAGINER ON A MISSION TO HELP PEOPLE RECLAIM THEIR ATTENTION FROM THE TRASH-HEAP OF DISTRACTION.

Confession time: I have struggled with hurry sickness for most of my life. And because of that, I am obsessed with time and its many manifestations. Throughout my life, this obsession has taken many forms---from working as an archaeologist, to helping people connect to and preserve places and spaces from the past, to owning a frankly embarrassing amount of calendars, timers, and planners.

As I sought to gain a better understanding of time, it became clear that I wasn't alone: we all want more time from our time. We all want our time to matter.

I am an orchestrator of attention and a cultivator of imagination. I use applied improvisation, storytelling, and other creative interventions to help people make time matter so that they can live with presence, possibility, and purpose.

People have described my courses as "amazing", "powerful", and "great fun".

What's the Story with the Squirrels and Rabbits?

The illustrations for this website were created in collaboration with Mid-Journey an AI image generator. The significance of the rabbit hearkens back to The White Rabbit in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. When the book was first published in 1865, industrialization was pushing more and more places to establish a standardized time and more and more people had their own time keeping devices. The White Rabbit wears a waistcoat, and carries a pocket watch and exclaims,  "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!". It could be argued that the famed rabbit, like so many of us, was also suffering from hurry sickness.

These naturally curious creatures have become a symbol of our distraction. This was perhaps best personified by Dog, the talking dog in the film up who would interrupt his own train of thought to exclaim, "Squirrel!" Yet, there is some

"People experience awe...in finding the extraordinary in the ordinary: a friends generosity...the scent of a flower; looking at a leafy tree's play of light and shadow on a sidewalk, hearing a song that transported them back to first love...every day awe."
