Would You Like To...

Well then! I am so glad you are here.

Change is hard. Initiating change or transformation and sustaining it is even harder. I can help.

About me

In 2014, I left my career in historic preservation, moved to Hong Kong, wanted to do something different for work and so I did. I established a business doing coaching, facilitation, and training in applied improvisation, storytelling, and other creative interventions. I performed, presented workshops, and did training the US, Europe, and Asia.

What I can help with...

  • You want to design and implement better habits, that are actually habits rather than intentions, ideas, or other things that you mean to do, but just don't manage to do.
  • You want to commit incremental acts of bravery, artfully instigate change, deftly navigate transition, or create things that matter.
  • You want to discover a new possible.
  • You want to rediscover and reconnect to your attention and intention.
  • You want to find, tell, and live better stories, for yourself, for the world.
  • You are stuck between a rock and a hard place, and you want to figure out strategies to get you unstuck.
  • You are filled with existential dread and want to figure out what the fuck to do about it in a way that makes you and the world better.
  • You want to connect to the magic of the ordinary, the extraordinary, and everything in-between.
  • You want to have the life you want and want the life you have.

Coaching Approach and Philosophy

When you work with me, you get a creative, kind, energetic, and compassionate advocate. I will ask compelling questions, really listen to your answers, invite you to discover your best self, and help you bring the change that you want into your life. Those changes can be big, small, or somewhere in-between. It is up to you. As long as you truly commit to making a change---even a tiny one---insight, and transformation will follow.

I don't believe in habit-shaming ("successful people never do X") nor do I believe in big blanket solutions ("successful people always do y"). That's all just a bunch of bullshit.

Change can be shy and delicate, and it can be easy to scare it away. Most of us have enough things to feel bad about, so I want to help you find things that you feel good about, to do things that you feel good about, and to help you bring more good into the world. I want to find what works for YOU.

I want you to be able to imagine a new possible.

Thus, I also believe that the coaching process should be enjoyable, sure the work can be challenging, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun.

Training and Certification

Designing Your Life

I first encountered the book, Designing Your Life in 2016. I loved the concept of applying design thinking to life design and appreciated that the exercises were a great mix of practical and aspriational. I used the book a lot, thus I was thrilled when they launched their coach certification and in 2019, I was part of the second cohort of DYL coaches.

The DYL framework provides a strong underpinning for my work. I often incorporate DYL tools such as Odyssey Planning into my work with clients and I also offer a six and twelve week DYL coaching journey were we work through the DYL framework. I also offer a small group coaching experience called Designing Your Improvised Life.

Brain-based Coaching

True confession. In 2018, was in sad hotel room, in a sad hotel, working on a project that had about that same emotional tone. I had been wanting to pursue a coaching certification for a while but hadn't yet. As I sat staring at my laptop screen with hours of work in front of me, I realized that I was as tired as the towels on the rack. I had been following the work of the NLI for a while and decided to check their website. Again. Turns out that their was a training being offereed in Chicago (my home base) starting the following month. Something needed to change and it seemed like this could be the start of it, and I threw caution to the wind and signed up.
